Commission Guide

Hi there! Assuming you're here because you're interested in commissioning me for an artwork, so here's a (not-so-)short guide to help you talk to me about your ideas.

Before ordering, make sure to read my Terms of Service as you're agreeing with them by placing an order. If there are any details you're not sure about and would want to discuss, feel free to send me an e-mail or contact me via Discord. I'll do my best to clarify.

    I. Decide on artwork type

    Crop

Bust is a simple form of a portrait, cropping around neck or shoulders of the character. It's perfect for profile pictures, avatars and emotes. Headshot doesn't include neck or shoulders.

Half body will portrait character up to waist or hip, depending on the pose. It will show significant amount of facial detail, with a bit of body added for a proportion reference.

Full body will show the entirety of the character, featuring all the curves, bumps, scars and tattoos. The detail on face falls a little behind, but it can showcase intricate long hairstyles and certain pieces of clothing. Perfect for character sheets, further reference and, if paired with a proper background, print and display.

    Style

I can work in many styles, which applies to form (chibi, stylized, realistic) and color (greyscale, flat color, cel-shading, stylized full color, painterly full color). You can decide what you'd like to see or ask me to help you choose. Remember to gather reference if you have something specific in mind*, but remember, my own style will always bleed through! More detailed comparison and examples below.

I won't copy a style of artist that refused you commission, or a personal style of any artist. I can inspire color, lighting, general theme and look, but the anatomy and details will always be in my style. Do not ask for copies, that will be reported and may get you blacklisted in community.

    Pose

Action pose will feature character doing something dynamic such as combat, running, dancing, jumping or running. Due to amount of foreshortening and difficulty of shading, those are a bit more expensive than general full color. Action pose will usually contain some particles or fine details.

NSFW (hentai) poses are the ones considered purely 18+. NSFW will always feature a naked or mostly naked character, may be in variety of suggestive positions or actions.

    II. Gather information

    Describe the character

The character, be it human, animal, robot or a creature, is the focus of the artwork, unless you're ordering landscape concept art or maps. When describing it, focus on the basic description of their appearance, but also mention a sentence or two about their personality, as it's important to match the mood and character's expression.
If you have a picture of character or their concept art piece, you can use that instead.

Physical traits (height, weight, body type, body shape,  phenotype or ethnicity).

Palette (skin, eye and hair colors).

Fashion (clothing style, clothing color palette).

Personality (short and concise description of character traits).

Whole D&D character sheet - I don't have the time to sift through the information myself, please highlight the most important stuff.

The backstory on every fucking tree branch - Keep your description character relevant, please.

    Describe your idea

To efficiently work on your artwork, I need as much information about your vision of it as possible. Although I may introduce aesthetic changes to make it more appealing, the core idea comes from you.

"I want this character to sit on the floor and read a book, their hair messy as they just woke up from a nap, and are indulging in their favorite thing - reading." - This description provides the feel of overall mood and the idea of situation, without over-specifying the details. From this I can sketch out multiple sitting positions and match up character's expression to their mood.

"Make the character stand somewhere or do something" - Not enough detail. I'll be asking for more information to attempt sketching, but this type of description makes me draw blindly, without any place to start, which makes it harder to match up to your preferences. Even for character concept sheets I do require small information on poses/situations so I can design clothes and more.

    Describe the background

If you're paying for a background, you'll have to inform me what you want to see in it. It can be vague or detailed, as long as it informs me of ideas behind it and helps establish a color palette. Screenshots and references are welcome.

    Gather references

Gather a few images representing the character or the idea in a folder. You can upload it to imgur (public) / imgbb (private) album and shoot me a link, or you can embed them in e-mail or discord message.

Game screenshots of character, previous artwork/commissions presenting the character.

Collage/gallery/pinterest board of images that compound into character's appearance (photos of hair colors/styles, clothing examples, similar looking people).

Image you expect me to duplicate or trace - this is a violation of ToS. I can create something in similar style, similar mood or similar pose, but not a copy with inserted different character traits.

    III. Decide on details

    Choose a license type

Basic license includes my signature/watermark and cannot be sold or used in ways that bring you profit. If you're interested in monetizing the artwork you're ordering from me, you'll need to purchase Commercial License. A detailed license overview can be found here.

    Decide on extras

If you're interested in paying for any additional services related to the artwork, make sure to let me know when ordering so I can adjust the invoice approprietly.
